I suspect I would have paused to evaluate what I knew, hoped my racing heart didn’t explode, and ascertained if I could safely leave at 100mph!

It really is something to consider, right? Sadly, since Columbine, I've also talked with each of my children how to handle it if they hear shots in a school. Sometimes there is no right answer. But sometimes, keeping your head and evaluating quickly may save your life.

I’d make sure I wasn’t in any immediate danger, and call the cops on my way out of there

Yep. And the cops were there lightning fast. At least that evening they were.
